This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website and use our services.

2. Data Controller and Data Processor

For the purposes of data protection laws, the Teacher utilizing the Stellify Kids platform acts as the Data Controller of their students' personal data. Stellify Kids acts solely as the Data Processor, processing information on behalf of and under the instruction of the Teacher.

3. Children's Privacy and COPPA Compliance

Our services are designed for independent online teachers instructing young learners (ages 4-15). As such, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

• Student accounts can only be created by an authorized Teacher.
• We collect only the minimum necessary information required for the platform to function (first name, last name, age).
• We rely on Teachers to obtain verifiable parental consent before creating a student account.
• Parents may review their child's information, request deletion, or restrict further data collection by contacting their child's Teacher or using the Parent Dashboard.

4. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Teachers & Parents: Name, email address, password hash, platform settings, and communication history.
• Students: First name, last name, age, learning progress (XP, HP, level), quiz/adventure game answers, submitted homework, and chat history (with teachers and AI study companions).
• System Data: Lesson recordings, IP addresses, and standard server log metadata.

5. How AI Features Process Data

Stellify Kids integrates with third-party Artificial Intelligence providers (such as Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini) to provide enriched learning experiences.

• Companion Chat & Writing Coach (Claude): Student chat inputs and written text are transmitted to Anthropic to generate conversational responses and feedback.
• Lesson Plans, Passages, and Quests (Gemini): De-identified context about a student's learning level is sent to Google to dynamically generate age-appropriate quests and educational materials.

We do not permit these third-party AI providers to use personal data submitted through our platform to train their foundational models. Data transmitted is strictly for the purpose of providing immediate functionality.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies, primarily standard JSON Web Token (JWT) session cookies, to maintain your authenticated state across the platform. We do not use third-party tracking, targeting, or advertising cookies.

7. GDPR Compliance and Your Rights

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

• The right to access, update, or delete the personal information we have on you.

We retain personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law. When a Teacher deletes a student from their dashboard, the associated student data is permanently cascade-deleted from our databases.
